This complete collection features 188 image boards created before “Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind,” including 58 previously unpublished works—early sketches that embody the origins of Hayao Miyazaki’s philosophy.

Rolf, Nausicaä the Princess of the Ghouls, the Mole and Kushana, The Warring States Demon Castle, Yara the Wind User’s Daughter—these works bear traces of inspiration from past and present creations, revealing the seeds of characters, machines, and landscapes that would appear in later works.
