The Studio Ghibli feature film “The Boy and the Heron” directed by Hayao Miyazaki, which opened on July 14, 2023, and became a major topic of conversation, is his first long film in 10 years. The film includes all 603 of the director’s hand-drawn color storyboards!

In Miyazaki’s works, where a written script does not exist, the storyboard serves not only as a production document but also as the script and a storyboard with written camera work.
