Rune Naito

Born in Okazaki City, Aichi Prefecture in 1932. Illustrator, designer.

In 1951, he joined Himawari-sha, a company run by Junichi Nakahara. In 1959, he was in charge of the cover of “Junior Soleil” and got a big break. He was active as an illustrator in many magazines, and from the 1960s onwards, he expanded the range of his activities with free ideas, such as magazine supplements, fancy goods designed with characters, and proposals for handicrafts and interiors.

In 2002 he held his first retrospective exhibition at the Yayoi Museum (Tokyo) and once again stepped into the limelight.

He sadly passed away in 2007. He is 74 years old. In recent years, he has many fans both at home and abroad.
