The Nakagin Capsule Tower Building, a masterpiece in Japanese architectural history, was completed in 1972. And, As of 2022, the demolition of this building has begun. This book is a collection of over 400 photographs of the 114 capsules.
It also includes two essays by Kiwa Matsushita and Toshihiko Suzuki, and a conversation between Mirai Kurokawa, son of Kisho Kurokawa, and Hajime Yatsuka, a leading researcher on Metabolism. (The book is in Japanese.)
The capsule tower is scheduled to be dismantled and the capsules reused.

An extraordinary requiem for this extraordinary building. I wish an equivalent volume had been created for another recently lost piece of modern Tokyo architecture, the Sony Building.
