Needle tatting lace, created using a tatting needle instead of a shuttle, is a historic craft that originated in 19th-century Europe.
It’s easy to start because the basic double stitch is simple to make and can be easily undone if mistakes are made. The craft allows for a variety of thread thicknesses, from delicate lace accessories to woolen shawls. It’s also easy to incorporate beads and pearls, adding to the wide range of creative possibilities.
