Yoshiharu Tsuge is a living legend, one of only two manga artists to be recommended for membership in the Academy of Arts, gaining international acclaim.
In the late 1960s, at the heart of the counterculture era encompassing movies, literature, music, and theater, his works published in “Garo” magazine introduced innovations in manga expression, including editions in two-color printing.
Eight works that were reprinted in “Manga Action” in 1969, including “Red Flowers,” “The Girl at the Mikkiri Bar,” and “The Li Family,” featured this two-color edition. Among these, the legendary “Nejishiki” was known only to enthusiasts as a different version, revised with all-color pages and a new cover illustration.
This variant edition, not available even in the “Tsuge Complete Works,” is a coveted collector’s item for fans.
