A collection of 11 short comics produced from 1971 to 1974 when Katsuhiro Otomo was 17-19 years old, from when he was a student to after his professional debut, in order of production and presentation.
In 1973, the author made his debut at the young age of 19 with “Gunshot” published in “Manga Action August 4th Special Issue”. It is literally a “phantom early work” that few people have seen the actual work even if they have seen the title in the list of works published in the short collection “Short Piece”.
In addition to recording all of them for the first time, this book contains 4 completely unpublished works, studies and contributions drawn before debut.

Katsuhiro Otomo
Manga artist / movie director. Born in Miyagi prefecture.
Debuted in 1973 with “Manga Action”. His masterpieces include “Domu” and “AKIRA”.
In 1988, his own animated film “AKIRA” received high praise outside Japan and became the forerunner of the Japanese animation movement (Japanimation) overseas.
In 2013, he received the Medal with Purple Ribbon from the Japanese government. In 2014, the French government gave the Order of Arts and Culture Offiche.
In 2015, the 42nd Angouleme International Cartoon Festival Grand Prize (France).
