Fumiyo Kono
Born in Hiroshima city in 1968. She made her manga debut in 1995. In 2004, she won the Grand Prize in the Manga Division at the Japan Media Arts Festival and the Newcomer Award at the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize for “Town of Evening Calm, Country of Cherry Blossoms” (Futabasha). “In This Corner of the World” (Futabasha) received the Excellence Award in the Manga Division at the Japan Media Arts Festival and was ranked first in “THE BEST MANGA 2010 Read This Manga!” Other works include “Ballpen Kojiki” (Heibonsha) and “Bird of the Sun” (Nihon Bungeisha).
