I am absolutely loving this book. It contains great information and knowledge, including some of the best detailed photographs about chair anatomy. It’s truly a must have for designers and chair makers. Don’t let the fact that the whole book is written in Japanese discourage you from buying it. The photographs alone are invaluable. And a good photo translate app does the trick.

I am also very happy about the delivery. The book got shipped to Western Europe. It only took 5 workdays. No complaints, no delays. The package arrived in good condition, with a nice written note along it.

This is a very special book. For those who need to understand how the great masterpieces of ashlar work are made, this is the definitive book. Through meticulously documented restoration processes, the authors show every constructive detail of the examples in question. A delightful collection of images and invaluable information that is hard to find elsewhere. Ideal for industrial designers, creators of digital content for architectural visualisation or furniture makers. Highly recommended.

What a wonderful book. Such an informative deep dive into the thought process behind the chair and chairmaker. Each chair is an absolute engineering (and in many cases, woodworking) marvel. Even without knowing how to read Japanese, I was able to follow along every detail of deconstructing, repairing, and reconstructing, as well as modern historical references to each piece. I do wish it were available in an English translation. I would buy this book again!

Wonderful unique book. Text in japanese is the onky drawback for non-japanese readers but it is 95% pictures. Photography is smart and gorgeous.
