Takato Yamamoto, an artist who blends the flat and delicate touches of ukiyo-e and Japanese painting techniques into his illustrations, depicts decadence and aestheticism through beautiful boys and girls.

While working as an illustrator, Yamamoto has labeled his style as “Heisei Aestheticism” and is currently active as a painter.
His creative process is unique: first, he draws a rough sketch, then creates an underdrawing based on it. Next, he applies graphite to the entire back of the underdrawing paper, overlays it on the final paper, and traces the lines of the underdrawing to transfer them onto the final paper. For the final artwork, he draws the lines using fine brushes and pens, then paints with Liquitex colors to complete the piece. As a result, each piece requires being drawn four times.
