Celebrating 30 years of artistic career! A carefully curated, masterpiece color art collection from Kio Shimoku, known for the hit “Genshiken” series.
Kio’s illustration work is renowned for its delicate touch, vibrant color usage, and meticulous attention to detail, captivating countless fans. Beyond his manga series, Kio has released numerous memorable illustrations for magazine covers and title pages of serialized works. However, many of these illustrations were never included in collected volumes or were converted to monochrome from their original color versions. This marks the first color art book in Kio’s career, bringing these works together.
For this publication, nearly all the color illustrations from the past 30 years were gathered and curated under Kio’s supervision to be restructured into this art book. It condenses Kio’s journey as a manga artist into a single volume. The content primarily focuses on works related to his signature “Genshiken” series, along with illustrations from other serialized manga. The illustrations are presented with minimal cropping, allowing readers to fully enjoy Kio’s artwork on each page.
Additionally, the book features articles at the end, including interviews that delve into Kio’s life history and creative process, as well as reference pages for his works. This provides a rare glimpse into the enigmatic genius Kio Shimoku, making it a must-have resource for fans.
*Please note: Illustrations related to the ongoing series “Spotted Flower” will not be included in this book at the request of Kio Shimoku.
*This is not a reprint, but a newly edited original publication.
