Yoji Takeshige

Born in 1964 in Philadelphia, USA, and raised in Tokyo. Withdrew from the Department of Oil Painting at Tama Art University. Made his first contribution to Studio Ghibli works as a background artist for My Neighbor Totoro (1988) and joined Studio Ghibli in 1991. Served as art director for the first time in On Your Mark (1995) and subsequently worked as art director on numerous Ghibli works. As the art director for Summer Wars (2009), he received the Best Art Direction Award at the 9th Tokyo Anime Awards. Nominated for the Annie Award for Best Production Design and the ADG Awards (Art Directors Guild Awards) in the Animated Feature Film category for The Boy and the Heron (2023).
