Shuntaro Tanikawa

Born in Tokyo in 1931. Debuted as a poet after graduating from high school. In 1952, published the first poetry collection, “The loneliness of 2 billion light years” (Sogensha). Since then, he has been widely used in poetry, picture books, and translation. Received the Japan Translation Culture Award in 1975, the Noma Children’s Literature Award in 1988, and the Sakutaro Hagiwara Award in 1993. Many other awards.
