A commemorative art book celebrating the 70th birthday of manga artist Mitsuru Miura, known for iconic works like “The♡Pumpkin Wine,” “Lensman,” and “Convenience Maria.”
The collection features approximately 250 carefully selected pieces by the artist himself.
“The♡Pumpkin Wine,” serialized in “Weekly Shonen Magazine” from 1981 to 1984, gained popularity due to the charm of its heroine “Elle” and played a key role in the love-comedy manga boom of the time, later being adapted into a TV anime. After the serialization ended, sequels continued in different publications, concluding in 2017 with “Back to The♡Pumpkin Wine.” The book includes vibrant original artwork from “The♡Pumpkin Wine” and other works, handpicked by the artist from his extensive collection.
In addition to self-commentary, a work list, and previously unreleased idea notes, this comprehensive volume offers a deep dive into the world of Mitsuru Miura. Celebrate his 70th anniversary by enjoying the rich visual world he created.

Mitsuru Miura
Born in 1954 in Honmoku, Yokohama.
In 1972, while still in high school, he made his debut with “The Story of an Unfortunate Man,” submitted for the Young Jump Award in Weekly Shonen Jump.
From 1976, he worked as an assistant to Osamu Tezuka for two years.
In 1978, he began serializing works mainly in Weekly Shonen Magazine.
His notable work “The♡Pumpkin Wine” was adapted into a TV anime on the TV Asahi network in 1982, and he won the 7th Kodansha Manga Award in the shonen category for this work.
In 2001, “Kombi ni Maria” was adapted into a TV drama on the TBS network. Other works include “Coconut Ave.,” “Lensman,” “Ai Shall Return,” and many more.
In 2015, he self-published “Back to The♡Pumpkin Wine” through crowdfunding.
He retired from his career as a manga artist (writing story manga) at the end of 2017.
In 2023, he formed the hand-drawn artists’ group “Manga☆Hands.”
He is currently engaged in creating picture books, illustrations, and other works.
