Junji Ito
Born July 31, 1963 in Nakatsugawa City, Gifu Prefecture. After graduating from high school, he entered a dental technician’s school and got a job, but he posted it with the intention of having Mr. Umezu read it, triggered by the establishment of the “Monthly Halloween” (Asahi Sonorama) newcomer manga award “Umezu Kazuo Award”. .. In 1986, he won an honorable mention for his contribution “Tomie”. This work will be his debut work and will be his masterpiece.
He creates masterpieces such as “City without Roads”, “Hanging Balloon”, “Souichi” series, and “It’s hard to fall in love with the dead”.
Started serializing “Uzumaki” in “Big Comic Spirits” (Shogakukan) in 1998. After that, he continued to release unique works such as “Gyo” and “Kandan”, and in 2017 he celebrated the 30th anniversary of his life as a manga artist.
