Junichi Nakahara 111 Years

Commemorating the 111th anniversary of Junichi Nakahara’s birth, this book features about 480 illustrations, including his work in magazines like “Soreiyu”, as well as his creations in clothing, yukata, kimonos, paintings, dolls, and the personal items he left behind.

Exactly one year after the end of the war, on August 15, 1946, Junichi Nakahara (1913-1983) launched the magazine “Soreiyu”, serving as its first editor-in-chief. He achieved remarkable success as a multi-creator, significantly transcending boundaries as an editor, painter, fashion designer, and interior designer.

In an era where people were desperate to live each day, he undertook numerous projects with the desire to create a magazine that would allow people to dream and aspire to a beautiful life again. His work, which garnered overwhelming support from contemporary women and pursued the essence of beauty, continues to profoundly influence creators of later generations with its freshness and expression.
