Author profile
Gosho Aoyama
Manga artist. He was born on June 21, 1963, in Daiei Town, Tohaku District, Tottori Prefecture (now Hokuei Town). He graduated from the College of Art at Nihon University.
In 1986, his work “Chotto Matte te” was selected in the Shogakukan Newcomer Comic Awards. The following year, the same work was published in a combined issue of Weekly Shonen Sunday (Shogakukan) and marked his debut.
In 1987, after serializing “Magic Kaito” in a special issue of Weekly Shonen Sunday (Shogakukan), he began serializing his breakout work “YAIBA” in Weekly Shonen Sunday (Shogakukan) in 1988. This work won the 38th Shogakukan Manga Award for children’s manga and was adapted into a TV anime.
His subsequent work, “Detective Conan,” garnered widespread popularity, especially among teenagers, and won the Shogakukan Manga Award for the second time.
