Akiko Ikeda
Born in Kichijoji, Tokyo.
In 1976, founded the leather workshop “Wachifield.” In 1983, created “Dayan the Cat” as the symbol character for the main store in Jiyugaoka, Tokyo. Around that time, began drawing stories set in the mysterious land of Wachifield and has since continued writing in various forms, including picture books, art collections, long novels, and travel sketch diaries. To date, over 130 titles have been published. In 2023-2024, the 40th anniversary of Dayan’s creation is being celebrated with a commemorative original art exhibition touring nationwide.
