This collection traces the career of Akemi Takada, a character designer and illustrator for numerous animated films.
It includes both old and new illustrations and original works drawn for such works as “Creamy Mami, the Magic Angel,” “Urusei Yatsura,” “Kimagure Orange Road,” and “Magical Stage: Fancy Lala,” from over 40 years of production.
This collection includes a wide range of illustrations from video packages and magazine features from the 1980s to book covers and original works from recent exhibitions.
“Creamy Mami, the Magic Angel” is an animation that was broadcast in 1983 as the first work in the Pielo Magical Girl series, and is now a long-running hit that has collaborated with numerous apparel brands and boasts eternal popularity.
“Urusei Yatsura” is an animated adaptation of Rumiko Takahashi’s manga, and is a memorable masterpiece that made chief director Mamoru Oshii’s name known to the world.
“Kimagure Orange Road” is an anime adaptation of a manga by Izumi Matsumoto, one of the most popular romantic comedies of the 80s, whose heroine, Madoka Ayukawa, is said to be the original tsundere and exploded in popularity.

Born in Tokyo. She is a character designer, illustrator and jewelry designer.
She majored in graphic design at Tama Art University and joined Tatsunoko Production after graduating. After that, she became a freelancer and worked on character designs for animations such as Urusei Yatsura and Magical Angel Creamy Mami. She currently holds original painting exhibitions not only in Japan, but also in the United States, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, and participates in events around the world.
