This work was specially created by Yoshitake for the exhibition “The Great Thief’s House,” which will begin at PLAY! MUSEUM in July 2025.
Although thieves are unforgivable criminals, they have been depicted in numerous stories throughout history and across cultures. As beings with superhuman abilities, as mysterious heroes, and at times as clumsy and endearing figures, people have long admired and been strangely drawn to thieves. Yoshitake Shinsuke has taken on the challenge of exploring this curious existence for the first time.
The “Great Thief” depicted by Yoshitake has neither special abilities nor strength, and is not a villain. Becoming a “Great Thief” means reclaiming the precious things we have unknowingly lost. By recovering what is important, you will gain true freedom.
