Showa Modern: Signs and Store Designs, 1920s – 30s Window Fronts, Shop Interiors, and Displays from City Streets

More than 200 valuable materials such as signboards, displays, street decorations, and original characters from the early Showa period are recorded at once.

This book introduces about 200 signboards, street decorations, and shop window designs from the late Taisho era to the early Showa era, when Japanese cities underwent a major transformation.
With cafes, bars, fruit parlors, and clothing stores lined up, and the urban culture flourishing, signboards and streetlight decorations were important elements that could be said to be part of the cityscape.
