This book is a record of the “Jikatsu” project activities, including interviews and comments from stakeholders recorded in videos. A newly recorded discussion featuring JAGDA President Taku Satoh is also included.
As regional revitalization is called upon to enhance the vitality of Japan as a whole, graphic designers are no longer expected to just wait for work to come; they need to think, act, connect, and create work on their own, a concept known as “Jikatsu.”
The Japan Graphic Designers Association (JAGDA), which comprises graphic designers from all over the country, visited members active in various regions to learn about their autonomous activities. The results were documented in videos featuring the activities of eight graphic designers, which were shared on YouTube. From August 26 to September 25, 2022, these were showcased at the Tokyo Midtown Design Hub in an exhibition titled “Jikatsu Design.”
