Machiko Kyo
Born in Tokyo. She graduated from Tokyo University of the Arts, Setsu Mode Seminar. On her own blog, the one-page short manga “Sennen Gaho”, which is updated almost every day, has been published as a book and attracted attention.
Selected for the 1st “Hobonichi Manga Award” in 2005. In 2006 and 2007, “Sennen Gaho” was selected for the Japan Media Arts Festival “Judging Committee Recommended Works” for the second consecutive year. In 2010, “cocoon” and in 2013, “Anone,” were selected as “Judging Committee Recommended Works” by the Japan Media Arts Festival.
In 2014, she received the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Award Newborn Award for “Mitsuami no Kami-sama” and the Japan Cartoonists Association Award Grand Prize (Carton category) for “Ichigo War” in 2015.
