This book is a collection of rose-patterned textiles selected by Ranko Nagata, owner of LUNCO, a popular antique kimono store in Mejiro, using a variety of dyeing, weaving, embroidery, and other techniques found in Japanese kimono patterns.
The rose pattern is the only kimono pattern that is allowed to be worn throughout the year among floral patterns, which are often limited to certain seasons when worn. One of the charms of the rose pattern is that it can be enjoyed regardless of the season, and it is also a popular pattern that can be depicted in a variety of ways, from neat and tidy to elegant and luxurious.
It is a popular pattern.
There are many rose patterns drawn in diverse expressions from the Meiji to the early Showa periods.
