This color scheme dictionary is a compilation of the chic and stylish sensibilities of the samurai class and the color beauty of the Edo period.

The noshime was the ceremonial dress of the samurai class in the Edo period, with a kasuri, striped, or lattice pattern from the chest to the waist, and plain fabric on the shoulders and hem. This book introduces in color 948 items from a sample book used by weavers and wholesalers in Nishijin, Kyoto, in the late Edo period, which show the patterns of kasuri, stripes, and latticework in the area from the chest to the waist. The chic and stylish sense of the warrior class is still used today in many fields as a reference for color schemes.
