A pretty good starter book to learn how to wood carve with japanese carving knives with step by step instructions . Make sure to use a translator to read such as google lens or DeepL. As for japanese carving knives, one such provider of japanese carving knives is Michihamono, but they tend to be on the more costly side. I would recommend looking for japanese carving knives on sites such as ebay.
And to be sure to pay attention to the knives suggested in the book, as these will be necessary to complete these projects. You will also need a way to keep your knives honed. One such method are sharpening stones, but a second option are leather strops ( you’ll also need a knife sharpening wax) which are an alternative method of keeping your knives honed. I also recommend looking up instructions how to hone your knives on sites such as youtube.
