Author profile
Kyosuke Sasaki
Born in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture in 1985. After graduating from the Department of Photography at Nihon University College of Art in 2007, he studied under the photographer Kozo Ogawa and worked at Asukaen Co., Ltd., specializing in photography of Buddhist statues and art publishing. From April 2009 to March 2020, he worked as a photographic technician at the Nara National Museum, handling many shoots for illustrations published in catalogs and research books.
While working on photographing Buddhist statues, he has also produced and presented photographic works closely related to contemporary society, such as “Street View” (Canon New Century of Photography Excellence Award), which documents the surroundings of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant, and “Space” (finalist in the photography division of the “1_WALL” contest organized by Recruit), which captures converted underground bunkers used for earthquake observation stations.
