HAIBARA Art & Design – Japanese beauty created by washi paper

Haibara, a traditional Japanese paper store established in Nihonbashi during the Edo period, has been trading washi and small paper items for over 200 years. This book unravels its 200-year history with an abundance of visuals.

It includes deep interactions with artists like Takehisa Yumeji, Shibata Zeshin, Kawase Hasui, and Kawanabe Kyosai, and features about 50 vivid, modern chiyogami designs showcasing the artists’ skills, along with over 200 other items.
