Maito Komuro
A plant dyeing artist and representative of “Maito Design Works.” He was exposed to natural dyeing at his family’s workshop, Koubou Yumezaiku (Fukuoka Akizuki), and majored in dyeing and weaving at the Tokyo University of the Arts, Faculty of Fine Arts. In 2009, he launched his original brand “MAITO” In 2010, he established the natural dye factory brand “Maito Design Works” in Ueno, Tokyo.
Currently, he operates a workshop shop in Kuramae, researching natural dyes and collaborating with various manufacturers and brands, producing original products, directing, and conducting natural dye workshops, all aimed at promoting Japan’s traditional culture through natural dyeing.
