Yozo Hamaguchi
Born on April 5, 1909 in Hiromura, Arita-gun, Wakayama Prefecture (now Hirogawa-cho). 1914 He moved to Choshi City, Chiba Prefecture. 1922 He moves to Tokyo. He entered Rikkyo Junior High School. He later transfers to Kyoka Middle School.
Around 1927, he studied under Western-style painter Mango Kobayashi and sculptor Daimu Tatehata.
In 1928, he entered the sculpture department of the Tokyo School of Fine Arts (now Tokyo University of the Arts, Faculty of Fine Arts).
In 1930, on the advice of Ryuzaburo Umehara, an acquaintance of his father, he dropped out of the Tokyo School of Fine Arts and went to France.
He later studied oil painting, watercolor and engraving at the Académie Grande Chaumière.
