This book contains all his woodblock prints published in 1987, “Hiroshi Yoshida’s Complete Woodblock Prints”, with all pages changed in size, the colors of the works reproduced in the first printing, and new discoveries and new information added. It will be an enlarged new edition.

Hiroshi Yoshida
Born in Kurume City, Fukuoka Prefecture in 1876 (Meiji 9). Moved to Tokyo in 1894 (Meiji 27). In 1899 (Meiji 32), he moved to the United States. He held exhibitions in Detroit, Boston, Washington, England, etc.
Since then, he has frequently traveled to America, Europe, India, China, and all over Japan to sketch.
1920 (Taisho 9) Became acquainted with Shozaburo Watanabe, the publisher, and published his first woodblock print. In 1925 (Taisho 14), he produced woodblock prints of the “America Series” (6 pieces) and the “Europe Series” (11 pieces) depicting Western landscapes.
From this year onwards, he hired his own engraver and printer and published woodblock prints. After the end of the war in 1945 (Showa 20), many Americans, including Mrs. MacArthur, visited and became friends with Hiroshi Yoshida.
He passed away in 1950 (Showa 25) at the age of 73.

As the title says, this book contains the complete woodblock prints by Yoshida Hiroshi. There are English translations of the introduction, titles and appendices which are originally in japanese.
