A collection of works from the performance trilogy of the same name, created in collaboration with internationally acclaimed choreographer/dancer Damien Jalet and artist Kohei Nawa.
Their collaboration began when Jalet, who has always had a deep interest in Japanese culture, was inspired by Nawa’s vertical work “Form” at the Aichi Triennale in 2013.
Their collaboration began with “VESSEL” premiered in Japan in 2016, “Mist” was presented as a beautiful video work by filmmaker Rahi Rezvani, and “Planet [wanderer]” was performed to great acclaim after the Corona Disaster in 2021. The fascination of the new trilogy of performances is fully recorded.
The unique world of the fusion of Nawa’s stage design and Jalet’s choreography can be enjoyed in this powerful, large-format book. The paper texture, printing, and processing are also carefully selected.
The book also includes interviews with Jalet and Nawa, reviews of each of the three works, and other reading material to help you understand the world of the works. (In Japanese)

Author profile
Kohei Nawa
Sculptor / President of Sandwich Inc. / Professor at Kyoto University of the Arts
Born in 1975. He is based in Kyoto. In 2003, completed the doctoral course in sculpture at Kyoto City University of Arts Graduate School of Fine Arts. 2009 Established “Sandwich”. Focusing on the “skin” of sculpture as an interface to connect with the senses, and based on the concept of cells (cells and grains), in 2002, he announced “PixCell”, which symbolizes the information age. Based on the theme of the relationship between life and space, sensibility and technology, the painting “Direction” draws with gravity, “Force” silicone oil pours down into the space, “Biomatrix” shows bubbles and grids that appear on the surface of the liquid, and the bubbles themselves are gigantic. He has flexibly interpreted the definition of sculpture, such as “Foam,” which grows into volume, and has created a perceptual experience that reveals the physical properties of the material to the viewer.
In recent years, he has also been involved in architectural projects such as the art pavilion “Koutei”. In 2018, a special exhibition of his sculpture “Throne” was held inside the Pyramid of the Louvre Museum in France.
