Artist. Born in 1965 in Niigata Prefecture. Completed graduate studies in 1991 at Tokyo University of the Arts, majoring in oil painting techniques and materials.
Debuted in 1993 with the exhibition “Fortunes” held by the Röntgen Art Institute.
Active both in Japan and internationally, crossing a wide range of expressive media including painting, photography, video, sculpture, performance, installation, novels, and manga.
Presents diverse themes—ranging from young girls to war paintings, office workers, and urban planning—with a sharp critical perspective on society.
