Sento / a thousand rabbits – art works by Tanaka Nozomi

This is a collection of works by Nozomi Tanaka, who made a striking entrance into the art scene with her masterpiece “Mono Okuri,” a painting of a stranded whale, winning the grand prize at the 2014 VOCA Exhibition.

She has stayed in various regions, working alongside local residents in farming, annual events, and festivals, and continues to create works based on fieldwork of local folklore and myths.

Her large canvases, sometimes spanning several meters in width, are filled with a fantastical world, intricately and freely painted, and thousands of rabbits covering the canvas. This collection includes her debut work (and representative work) “Hareno no Hi” from Tohoku University of Art and Design’s graduation project, as well as six works including “Yamanokami’s Fair” and “Fire Alliance,” drawn in the style of a pilgrim’s mandala.

This is not a mere reproduction but an astonishing collection that allows you to dive into the world of each painting, with close-up shots recreating a single artwork in dozens of scenes.
