Author profile
Souun Takeda
Japanese calligrapher. Born in Kumamoto Prefecture in 1975.
He graduated from the Faculty of Science and Technology, Tokyo University of Science. From the age of 3, he studied calligraphy under his mother Souyou Takeda, who is also a calligrapher. After graduating from university, he joined NTT. After working for about three years, he became an independent calligrapher.
His representative works include “Life”, “Wave” and “Kizuna”. He is attracting attention for his original creative activities such as collaborations with various artists such as musicians and sculptors, as well as innovative solo exhibitions.
In 2003, he received the “Longhua Cui Award” from the Shanghai Museum of Fine Arts, China. In the same year, he was awarded the Costanza Medici Art Award in Florence, Italy. He has worked on numerous titles, including the NHK Taiga drama “Tenchijin”, the movie “Kama no Shiro”, and the Global House booths at the Aichi Expo “Aichi Expo”. He has also performed many calligraphy performances both domestically and internationally, including events in Fuji Rock Festival, Moscow, Russia, and Geneva, Switzerland. He presides over the calligraphy class “Futaba no Mori”.
