This book is the second volume of a three-volume compilation of the enormous amount of layouts, original drawings, and revisions used in the production of the film version of “AKIRA” that were drawn by the original author and director Katsuhiro Otomo himself.

Almost all of the images are printed in color, and many reproductions of celluloid images are also included.
This volume in particular contains a large number of original drawings of corrections within a single cut in succession, allowing the viewer to see the movement of the picture in greater detail and to further understand the details of the character movements (=acting) that director Otomo was so particular about.
The layout is a blueprint of the animation drawing, in which the necessary information is drawn for each of the scenes that make up the main story of the animation.
In addition to the original drawings and layouts of “Part B (continuation from the previous volume) and the beginning of Part C” of the four parts A, B, C, and D that make up the entire film, the book also includes valuable reproductions of celluloid images of many famous scenes that were created based on these original drawings.
Following the two previously published “Storyboard Collection” books, this volume exposes in detail the production process of this still cutting-edge expression.
The film version of “AKIRA” was created through a thorough process in which the “layout,” which depicts the background and character movements for each cut, was directed and revised by the animation director, art director, and even director Otomo himself.
The book is an unprecedented book of its kind, allowing the viewer to experience the uncompromising quality of the screen work by simply flipping through the pages, one by one, and seeing the scenes in continuous motion.
[What is OTOMO THE COMPLETE WORKS?]
Katsuhiro Otomo has created world-class titles one after another and has the face of a creator who is not bound by genres such as manga artists, illustrators, film directors, and scenario writers. “OTOMO THE COMPLETE WORKS” is the author Katsuhiro Otomo himself who overlooks, summarizes, and re-produces all of the various “all works” in chronological order.
